Local Reefer Company Driver (W-2) - Commack, NY

Join the Food Authority team and enjoy a $5,000 sign-on bonus! We are currently seeking experienced CDL A Delivery Drivers to oversee the delivery of temperature-controlled products.

Shift: Daily dispatch between 8pm and 9pm, home every night.

Weekly Salary: $1,850.00

Driver Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience in the last 3 years.
• A valid driver's license and current DOT medical card are required.
• No CDL accidents in the past 36 months.
• No major violations or suspensions in the last 36 months.
• Must be available for overnight shifts, including Fridays and Sundays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of food distribution experience.
• Experience with liftgate deliveries.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment.
• Previous overnight shift experience.

Driver Responsibilities:

• Ensure the delivery of undamaged temperature-controlled products.
• Accurately count inventory at customer locations while adhering to FIFO standards.
• Manage Driver Apprentice/Helper.
• Safely drive vehicles to customer locations for timely deliveries.
• Load and unload goods from trucks or trailers.
• Organize products according to customer specifications.
• Maintain driving logs and complete necessary documentation.
• Follow DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Adhere to the designated route for daily deliveries.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift weights of 25/50/80 pounds regularly.
• Quick response capability to sounds.
• Ability to traverse uneven terrain safely.
• Capacity to identify and respond to hazardous situations.
• Good night vision for driving in darkness.
