Local Reefer Company Driver (W-2) - Freeport, NY

Be part of the Food Authority team and receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus! We are looking for skilled CDL A Delivery Drivers for delivering temperature-controlled products to our customers.

Shift: Daily dispatch from 8pm to 9pm, returning home every day.

Weekly Salary: $1,850.00

Driver Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 21 years of age.
• A minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience in the last 3 years.
• A valid driver's license and current DOT medical card are mandatory.
• No CDL accidents in the last 36 months.
• No major violations or suspensions in the last 36 months.
• Must be available to work overnight, including Friday and Sunday nights.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of food distribution experience.
• Experience with liftgate deliveries.
• Experience with material handling equipment.
• Previous overnight shift experience.

Driver Responsibilities:

• Ensure safe and timely delivery of temperature-controlled products.
• Accurately count inventory at customer sites, ensuring FIFO standards.
• Supervise Driver Apprentice/Helper.
• Safely transport products to designated locations.
• Load and unload goods from trucks or trailers.
• Organize products as per customer guidelines.
• Maintain driving logs and complete necessary paperwork.
• Comply with DOT regulations and safety protocols.
• Follow the assigned delivery route.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift various weights (25/50/80 pounds) regularly.
• Quick reaction to sounds and movement over uneven surfaces.
• Capacity to identify hazardous situations.
• Good night vision for driving in darkness.
