Local Reefer Company Driver (W-2) - Huntington Station, NY

Position Details:

• Shift: Daily dispatch between 8pm-9pm, home every day
• Weekly Salary: $1,850.00

What We Are Looking For:

• Minimum Driver Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • A minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 3 years.
  • Current driver’s license and DOT medical card required.
  • No CDL accidents within the last 36 months.
  • No major violations or suspensions in the past 36 months.
  • Must be available to work overnight shifts, specifically Friday and Sunday nights.

• Preferred Driver Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of prior food distribution experience.
  • Experience delivering from a liftgate.
  • At least 1 year of material handling equipment experience.
  • Previous overnight shift experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safe shipment of temperature-controlled products, maintaining FIFO inventory levels at customer locations.
• Manage the Driver Apprentice/Helper.
• Safely transport goods to designated destinations for timely deliveries.
• Load and unload products from trucks and trailers according to customer specifications.
• Keep accurate driving logs, prepare vehicle performance forms, and complete daily paperwork.
• Adhere to DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Follow a predetermined route for daily deliveries.
• Maintain and organize all delivery documents and submit them appropriately at the end of each shift.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly.
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds and to navigate safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• Ability to see and react to dangerous situations, including driving safely at night.

Note for Applicants: A road test in a Food Authority truck will be required before any employment offer.
