Local Reefer Company Driver (W-2) - Norwalk, CT

Join the Food Authority team in Norwalk, CT, to take advantage of a generous $5,000 sign-on bonus! We are looking for experienced CDL A Delivery Drivers dedicated to providing top-notch service while managing temperature-controlled deliveries.

Shift: Daily dispatch between 8pm-9pm, home every day.

Weekly Salary: $1,850.00

Driver Qualifications:

Minimum Driver Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience in the past 3 years.
  • Current driver’s license and DOT medical card are essential.
  • No CDL accidents in the last 36 months.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations or suspensions in the last 36 months.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, specifically Friday and Sunday nights.

Preferred Driver Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in food distribution.
  • Experience with liftgate deliveries.
  • Familiarity with material handling equipment.
  • Prior experience working overnight shifts.

Driver Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe shipment of temperature-controlled products while maintaining FIFO inventory.
  • Oversee Driver Apprentice/Helper tasks.
  • Safely operate vehicles for timely deliveries.
  • Load and unload products per customer specifications.
  • Maintain driving logs and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Adhere to DOT regulations and safety protocols.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly lift 25/50/80 pounds.
  • Quick response to sounds and safe navigation over uneven terrain.
  • Ability to see and act upon dangerous situations, particularly at night.
