Local Reefer Company Driver (W-2) - Darien, CT

Join Food Authority in Darien, CT, and receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus! We are actively seeking experienced CDL A Delivery Drivers who are committed to excellence in delivering temperature-controlled products.

Shift: Daily dispatch between 8pm-9pm, home every day.

Weekly Salary: $1,850.00

Driver Qualifications:

Minimum Driver Requirements:

• Candidates must be 21 years or older.
• A minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience in the last 3 years is required.
• Current driver’s license and DOT medical card are mandatory.
• No CDL accidents in the last 36 months.
• Clean driving history, free of major violations or suspensions in the last 36 months.
• Availability to work overnight, particularly on Friday and Sunday nights.

Preferred Driver Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of food distribution experience.
• Experience using liftgates for deliveries.
• At least 1 year of handling material equipment experience.
• Previous experience working overnight shifts is a plus.

Driver Responsibilities:

• Ensure the secure shipment of temperature-controlled products and maintain FIFO inventory levels at customer locations.
• Supervise Driver Apprentice/Helper.
• Drive safely to designated delivery locations.
• Accurately load and unload products according to customer specifications.
• Keep an organized driving log and complete daily paperwork.
• Comply with DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Execute pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds on a regular basis.
• Quick reaction to sounds and safe movement over uneven terrain.
• Ability to assess and respond to hazardous situations, especially at night.
